One genre of photography that I have done for a long time and have yet to discuss on the reincarnated space of this blog is boudoir photography. Boudoir photography is intimate photography that respectfully showcases the body and soul of a woman. Boudoir can carry different meanings and purposes. It can be created for an intimate purpose as a gift (such as for a new spouse on a honeymoon), and it can also be for confidence-building of the woman.
I had my own boudoir session the year I turned 40 as a gift to myself, and it was one of the most empowering experiences that I have had as a woman. It was for me. I was in great shape at the time and now that 10 years have passed, I'm even more glad that I had it done.
In 2012, I received a Provincial award for a boudoir album. The image of the reclining woman with the feather was final image in that album.
I'm huge into helping fellow women feel beautiful, valued, and empowered. Boudoir photography can do this. Beautiful and skilled posing and lighting is crucial with this kind of photography, and showing a woman her beauty and soul mirrored back to her in images is an absolute privilege and honour as a photographer.
